Who Should Take this Class?
- Students who read for an hour and do not have any idea what they just read,
- Good students who want to be even better by improving their reading speed,
- Students who are contemplating a professional career – medicine, law, business – that requires an enormous amount of reading,
essentially…
- Anyone, 6th grade to adult, who is an average or better reader and wants to develop superior reading skills. *
*This course is not likely to benefit students who have uncorrected eye problems or who lack a basic English vocabulary.
What Can Students Expect from Taking this Class?
As a result of taking the PACE Power Reading course, students will:
- At least double their reading efficiency rate,
- Dramatically improve their speed and comprehension,
- Set the stage for major improvements in vocabulary,
and
- Create more time to "play!"
How Does it Work?
Efficient reading requires two things:
1) The ability to read groups of words rather than one word at a time, and
2) Knowledge that allows you to read smarter; to adapt the way you read to the material at hand.
This course has a number of fast-paced exercises and games to help you develop the eye coordination and decision-making ability needed to effectively absorb words in groups. Scattered throughout each day's exercises are practice lessons to help students make the best use of their new-found skill.
What have other students said about PACE?
“My comprehension gets better (and) at the same time, my speed goes up!”
“I noticed it first helped when I was reading a history chapter. I will get my reading done a lot faster.”
“I enjoy reading now, it’s not a drag…It’s a great confidence increase.”
“I’ll be more comfortable when I take my ACT and SAT.”
“…I liked the fact that there was no competition...we each went at our own pace.”

How Does it Work?
The SOAR® strategies are the most fundamental skills for school success and interrelate with one another, making it easy for students to learn and use them immediately. The techniques within each section lay a foundation for the following section and reinforce strategies from previous sections.
The course includes hands-on activites and a detailed text-book, complete with activities, demonstrations, and photographs for students to reference long after the class.
What have other students said about SOAR®?
I can’t believe how much easier it is for me to keep my papers organized. Since I started using the Binder, I have not lost one assignment! My parents are so excited and I feel so much better about school.–Thank you!”
– Michael Zabik, 9th grade student
“Kurt seems to be more focused about time-management. The jar of priorities made a big impact on how he utilizes his time on a daily basis. He enjoyed the classes!”
– Lachele Mangum, parent of 6th grade student
“It was very, very informative…I liked the way it was organized; first the planner, then the notebook, then the test…It was fast, but so efficient!”
- Adam Scott, college student |

3-D Writing
This one-day workshop guides students through the use of a unique 3-D organizer that helps students organize their thoughts and research into cohesive paragraphs that immediately transforms students' writing. This versatile writing tool has been used to help third graders write planet reports and grad students write dissertations.
Students will also learn valuable tips for maximizing research on the internet. Housed in a computer lab, students will be guided through the process of completing a career research paper - from beginning to end. The skills learned in this workshop will truly last a lifetime!

PACE, SOAR, and 3-D Writing...why together?
Each of these three programs were built around the concept of helping students learn how to learn, increase their efficiency, and ultimately feel much more confident about themselves as a student. The skills learned in each program last forever! In fact, many participants (and parents of participants) tell us that they have used skills from each of these three programs in their professional lives, as well.
